Last semester, a small group of TKEs and their friends gathered on Woodlawn Avenue to watch as their old house was demolished. The house along with the other residences on the block had been marked for demolition to clear the way for the new Bi-Centennial village. Construction began in March of this year with an ambition goal of being completed by the beginning of this school year. The Centenary community watched as the crews worked steadily to complete the new residence hall.
On August 18th, the building was complete, ushering in a new era for Centenary residence possibilities. The Bi-Centennial Village stands off of Kings Highway and will house 84 students in its apartment style dorms. There are 4 three-story buildings which according to Centenary officials, each floor “is organized as a self-contained six-bedroom house with five single bedrooms, one double bedroom, three bathrooms, a private patio or balcony, and a large shared living space.” Each floor will also have its own washer and dryer, full sized kitchen appliances, and a mini fridge in each bedroom.

The residence life presence in this building may feel a bit different than what upperclassmen are accustomed to. Instead of one or two resident assistants (or RAs) on each floor, there will be one Community Manager on staff. Residence Life will also be hosting events to give residents an opportunity to build community and have fun within the complex. All on campus rules still apply to the new building.
