Centenary Athletics Hosts its Annual Sports Banquet
The Centenary Athletics program had its annual Sports Banquet on Wednesday, April 16th to recognize the Centenary athletes who showed the most grit, determination, and dedication to their sports, as well as their loyalty to the school.
The evening kicked off with a fun series of superlative-style awards:
The Lending Hand Award went to Sarah Crenshaw of Women’s Soccer, known for always stepping up when her teammates needed her.
The Hype Man Award was given to Chase Stanley from Baseball, who kept the energy high all season long.
The Chronic Yapper Award went to Kaitlynn Alello of Softball, who never missed a chance to speak up—on or off the field.
Tyler Yount from Baseball was recognized with the Gym Rat Award for his relentless dedication in the weight room.
Bringing humor to every practice, Abby Touchet of Softball earned the Comedian Award.
The Early Bird Award was presented to Colt Hamilton of Baseball, always the first to arrive and ready to go.
Alexis Roach of Softball received the Rock-a-bye Baby Award for her legendary ability to nap anywhere.
And the Player Coach Award was awarded to Jacob Ramsey from Men’s Soccer, respected for his leadership and game sense.
Next came the major athletic honors:
Female Athlete of the Year: Shyanne Phillips (Women’s Basketball)
Male Athlete of the Year: Drew Bennett (Men’s Golf)
Female Scholar Athlete of the Year: Brooke Sandefur (Softball)
Male Scholar Athlete of the Year: Gavin Jack (Football)
Female Newcomer of the Year: Shyanne Phillips (Women’s Basketball)
Male Newcomer of the Year: John Sebastian Lutin (Men’s Soccer)
The coaching staff also received well-earned recognition:
Coach of the Year: Billy LeClair (Lacrosse)
Assistant Coach of the Year: Heather Ivey (Softball)
A special spirit award was presented as well:
Houla Award: Sam Brocato (Men’s Soccer), for exemplifying heart, teamwork, and school pride.
Finally, the evening closed with a heartfelt standing ovation as Dr. Scott Vetter was named Staff Member of the Year, honoring their unwavering support and contributions to the athletic program.
It was a night to remember, filled with appreciation for the dedication, energy, and impact of everyone involved in making this athletic year a success.
