On March 30th, 2022, Centenary introduced their new football coach, Byron Dawson. In November of 2021, the school announced football’s return and unveiled plans for the next few years on how the program will get started.

Hello, ESports fans! It’s an exciting time to be following the League of Legends competitions, as the playoffs for the world championship are underway!

Maddie Vacula, a freshman from Belton, Texas, has had an immediate impact on Centenary’s swim team. However, at first Maddie was reluctant to come to Centenary due to its small size.

Over two years ago now, COVID rocked everyone's world and changed how society functioned to combat the spread of the virus. Centenary closed campus in March of 2020, cutting the seasons of many spring athletics programs short. Thankfully when student-athletes returned to campus in the Fall of 2020, athletics was allowed to resume but not to the same capacity.

After 16 years of inconsistency, the Mavericks are back in Shreveport, Louisiana and ready to set roots…for real this time. The Mavericks have a rich and intricate history in their brief life span.

If you’re like me and you have a love/hate relationship with the gym—meaning you love to say that you’re “going to the gym,” but hate going to the gym—you may be looking for more interesting ways to stay in shape (or, at least, work up a sweat). Here’s a few—less arduous—options in the region:

Swimmers have a reputation for being a little crazy that is well deserved. Jumping into a freezing pool at 5:00 a.m. and staring at a solid black line for hours sounds incredibly unpleasant.

A lot has transpired since the restarting of the Spirit teams, which consists of our dance and cheer teams. It has been active again since the Fall of 2019, starting with recruiting all school year long. Since then, members have come and gone (as well as coaches), but nevertheless the teams have still been having practices and attending on and off-campus events. 

Born in Kilgore, Texas, Seth Thomas is in his third year of playing for the Centenary Gent’s basketball team. Swayed by the short distance from home, impressive basketball coaching, and academic accomplishments by the college, Seth settled down at Centenary with great confidence that he would be successful. 

Another month, another great matchup for you all. Evil Geniuses comes in vs. the return of 100 Thieves. On Evil Geniuses, we have Gnar, Jarvan XIII, Orianna, Zeri, and Nautilus vs. 100 Thieves’ Graves, Volibear, Twisted Fate, Jinx, and Tahm Kench.

In the first 18 games of the season, our Centenary Gents have managed to post a 10-8 record. Currently, the team is on a four-game winning streak that includes impressive wins on the road against Occidental College and a dominant at-home victory against Millsaps.

Thus far in their 2022 season, our Ladies Softball team has completed eleven games--with four of those ending in a win! The team's first game on February 5th was a double-header against Millsaps, played at Millsaps.

Many people grow up having dreams of playing collegiate sports; later down the line, these same people also learn about joining Greek life, which is very popular amongst first-year college students. Both sports and Greek life offer their own social groups—the opportunity to become a leader, and the chance to develop lifelong skills that can benefit you even after graduation.

The new season for League of Legends eSports is underway, folks! Over the past weekend, Computer Logic Gaming went head-to-head against 100 Thieves.

The NCAA stands for the National Collegiate Athletic Association and is responsible for regulating numerous different sports across thousands of colleges and universities.

This year’s team has already played a total of three games with all games being at home on Mayo Field.

After an eventful season for both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams, the two teams met up for the biggest football game of the year—the Super Bowl.
