Officially Chartered Podcast Inside the Dawghouse Hopes to Bring Campus Together
On Tuesday, Feb. 3, the sports podcast Inside the Dawghouse became an official Centenary organization after a unanimous vote by the Student Government Association. Started during the 2024-2025 school year, Inside the Dawghouse is a Centenary sports podcast hosted by student athletes Kylee Devon, Thomas Jordan, Sarah Crenshaw, Alisha Green, and edited by Xavier Nixon.

The podcast is a way for students to keep up with sports news, events, and stats, but also offers a more personal look into the lives of student athletes. With student athletes making up a large percentage of Centenary, the podcast was created in hopes to remedy what they saw as a lack of representation.
President Xavier Nixon is a senior, business major, and lacrosse player that was part of the inaugural group. On the purpose of the podcast, Nixon said, “it gives us the opportunity to interview students and get their perspective of what their sports life is like.” He highlighted the importance of athletes sharing their stories. Outside of an athlete’s bubble, many fun, interesting, and personal stories are never heard.
For Vice-President, political science and biology double major, soccer player, and junior, Kylee DeVore, the podcast is an attempt to bring a divided campus together. Pointing out the social and physical divide between the North and South sides of campus, DeVore said, “it’s a way to try and merge the two sides of campus.”
After four of the five founding members graduated, Nixon and the others were worried about what would happen next. Nixon, calling the podcast their baby, said, “we were scared because, like, how long was this going to last?” To protect against these fears, the crew started the process of becoming an official organization.
DeVore was crucial in the process, getting many of the signatures and staying in close contact with former Director of Student Involvement Ricki Rebollar. Devore said, “I went to Brinner during Homecoming week and I got like over 100 signatures. I didn’t know that many people knew what the Dawghouse was, let alone wanted it to become an organization.” With the signatures and a reinvigorated motivation, DeVore and Nixon scheduled their presentation to SGA for official chartership.

Before the meeting on late Feb. 3, Nixon and DeVore stood outside of the Whited Room, going over their presentation. Sprinting from across the campus, a lost dog took interest in them and began sniffing around. Nixon quickly took it upon himself to keep the dog there until DPS or their owner could get there. Not sure if it was a sign of good or bad luck, DeVore, now alone, entered the meeting.
After being called up, DeVore walked up to the podium and gave her presentation to the Senators. DeVore quipped about Nixon’s absence, saying he was “outside, trying to put a dog back in a doghouse.” The speech went on without a hitch and DeVore strode back to her seat before the Senators unanimously approved Inside the Dawghouse as a chartered organization. After the meeting, Dean Miller shared his excitement for the organization, saying, “they’ve done a lot of great work, and I’m glad to see them organizing and chartering because that sets them up for more resources from the campus and SGA.”
Now a chartered organization, the podcast looks towards the future. While their struggles to run the podcast as busy student athletes has not let up, they continue to plan for a bigger future. Nixon shared, “we can keep doing podcasts, but we have to expand our audience somehow.” Host Thomas Jordan shared similar aspirations, hoping they can “keep going on strong, keep growing, and keep expanding.”
On Nixon graduating this year, Host Sarah Crenshaw said she hopes people see how much work he has put into the show. Being the sole editor for the show, Crenshaw said, “he’ll definitely be a missing piece whenever he has to step away.” She stressed how important he was to the podcast and to the team.
DeVore encourages students to reach out to them if they want to get involved. Nixon added, “continue to support us, follow us on Instagram and Tik Tok and subscribe to our YouTube channel.”
